Denzel's wins fiery foods award

     .A Salmon Arm company is creating heat waves internationally.

        Denzel's Gourmet Foods was among the winners of the 2003 Scovie's the ultimate hot sauce and fiery foods awords.

Denzel's Kamikaze Hot Sauce won third place in the world beat category.

More than 500 products competed for top honours.  The Scovie Awards are presented by the Fiery Foods and Barbecue Magazine along with Sunbelt Shows.  The awards were announced Nov. 1 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The awards are named for Wilbur Scoville who pioneered a rating scale for spicy foods.

Denzel's opened its doors this year and the company offers a line of habanero and jalapeno sauces featuring different heat levels and flavours.

The company also produces a private label hot sauce for Vernon's A Fine Kettle of Fish.
