On Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. , Shuswap Search & Rescue Society will hold its barbecue fund-raiser and membership drive at the Centenoka Park Mall. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be cooked by the Central Lions Club and on display will be the search and rescue bus, quads and a zodiac. Until the 16th, see vehicles on display at the mall from Hilltop Toyota.
Get your shades
The Canadian Institute for the Blind will be coming door-to-door beginning April 15, selling sunglasses.
This is the annual campaign to raise awareness, promote their services and raise dollars. The sunglasses are rated UV 400, giving 100 per cent protection against UV rays.
Funds raised from the sale will be used to deliver services to the approximately 200-plus blind and visually impaired people in the Salmon Arm region, states the institute.

Autos on display
From April 17 to 30, the Vintage Car Show will be taking place at Piccadilly Place Mall. The Vintage Car Club will also be raffling off a stainless steel barbecue and a complete set of new tires, with all the funds going to Haney Heritage Park .
Election talk
Kevin Evans, chair of the Coalition of B.C. Businesses, will be the featured speaker at the chamber of commerce Special Speaker Luncheon on April 18 at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort. His topic will be "Election 2005: What's at stake for Salmon Arm's small- and medium-sized businesses." Doors open at 11:45 . Sponsored by Lakeside Insurance Services. Pre-register at 832-6247.

Denzel's Hot Sauce has won another award.
In an invitational competition put on by an online magazine out of Nevada , Denzel's was one of the recipients of the Fiery Star Awards.
First in the Hottest Sauce - Fiercest Tastebud Smack-Down category was Denzel's Fire.
The creation of owner Denzel Sandberg, the sauces are all natural and are made in Salmon Arm with habanero, jalapeno and chipotle peppers.
Forum forming
The Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board has joined the Salmon Arm and District Chamber of Commerce in sponsoring an all-candidates meeting for provincial candidates in the Shuswap riding.
The forum will take place on April 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express.
